This year World Reflexology Week is September 21-27, 2020. World Reflexology Week is about promoting reflexology and raising awareness of reflexology to the public on a global level.

After being shut down for the past two months due to the COVID-19 virus, I am happy to say that starting June 1st I will be back in business!

As I have many vulnerable senior clients it may be irresponsible right now to travel from house to house potentially spreading covid germs, so things are going to look a little different for awhile. As of June 1st 2020, I will be giving reflexology sessions in a self-contained cabin in my backyard. This way I can minimize the potential risks with high levels of sanitation and by spacing clients appointments appropriately. I will wear a mask during your session and request that you also wear a mask. I encourage you to bring a water bottle but will have bottled water for you after your session if needed.

This morning I was at the North Shore Women’s Centre doing my volunteer reflexology sessions. After I finished the session on an elderly Iranian woman, she took my hands and kissed them. She said “Thank you. You have magic hands”

It made me realize how much we expect of our bodies day in, day out with rarely any simple, heartfelt ‘thank you!’ Thank you to my hands for the compassionate work they do.

Welcome to Autumn in Vancouver. Rainy with ever the hope for some days of golden sunshine to accent the changing colours of the leaves. Autumn is quiet and contemplative after the exuberance and energy of the summer. There is a downshift in our external energy as we slowly start to move through the turning of the season. Aware of the slightly cooler air, the earlier darkness and noticing the golden leaves already abandoning their posts preparing to feed the ground for next year’s growth. I love this eternal changing of the seasons. The constant cycle of growth, nourish, decay and stillness. For all my love of the hot, dry sun of Summer, Autumn is my favourite time of year. The scrunching of leaves underfoot, the slight morning chill, the wind that rises strewing brightly coloured leaves in all directions. Autumn is my Spring as the wind picks up my hair and whispers potential and growth.

To keep the spirit of giving going all year round, I will be taking 5% of every reflexology session and donating a lump sum to the Spectrum Support for Mothers non-profit organization every 6 months. So now you can feel extra great about your reflexology session knowing that everytime you have your ‘feet treated’, you will also be helping mothers in our community.

Thank you to all of you who booked a reflexology session, bought a gift certificate, donated little extras, sent kind words of support and spread the message about the fundraiser in May. I managed to raise $1590 for Spectrum to help them continue to “shine light into the lives of mothers when they need it most”

This May I will once again be having my annual fundraiser for the non-profit charity, Spectrum. Spectrum provides an essential service to mothers in need on the North Shore by having trained caregivers and mentors help during difficult times and challenging situations.
During the month of May, 50% of the cost of every reflexology session booked and every gift certificate purchased will be donated to Spectrum. As Mothers Day is May 11th this year, consider purchasing a gift certificate to celebrate and honour your mum and all the women in your life.
Last year I set a goal of raising $1800 and surpassed it by $345 for a total of $2145. I’d love to have the same success this year and have set my goal at $2000 for Spectrum.
